Description

Inspired by an off-hand comment made by a coworker.

Painted in Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom tablet. Started with white background and using black to figure out pose/tone, then went over it with color.

Not sure how I feel about it.

Hey Ryan;

A nice colourful work! I like the use of green and blue to oppose Tin Shorts there. Continue your experimentation with colour! It doesn't seem photo-accurate, but it is a nice effect all the same - almost watery.

The figure itself is less solid. The receding hand is impressive, but only if you intended to draw a muscled hand with veins and ridges as a regular hand might - it doesn't seem like a gauntlet. Foreshortening seems a touch off on it as well. The shoulders could also use some bulking up and definition, though it's not really that distracting.

His face could use a bit of work. Not that it's terrible, again, but the shape seems rough and I honestly am left wanting more detail. That's a general comment for the whole piece in fact - it could use more detail.

The fire effect is nice. I'd consider the trailing whisks of fire to be a bit more of a mist. The streams seems too well defined once they leave the body.

Overall, good! More detail, more detail. Zoom on in and pick out some parts.

As for the layout and originality - who doesn't like a metal man rocketing in from space? Not a highly original picture, but it's awesome all the same.

Doesn't seem finished. But I like where it's going. To the moooooon!
